The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.

Pancake House’s Clubhouse Sandwich…
… is so unbelievably bland and just about a step next to flavorless.

It’s absolutely not worth what they charge you for it. Pumunta ka sa Jollibee, bilhin mo yung pinakamurang burger nila. Mas malasa pa yun.
I swear I could remember a time when I really liked this sandwich of theirs. Is it a quality-control thing? Did I just happen to eat at a branch whose staff royally suck at following a set recipe? I don’t know. But it sucks and I can’t believe they make you pay that much for a sandwich full of fail. It just looks good, nothing more.

Manila Bulletin Comic Section Fail
Somebody’s gonna feel shafted, that’s for sure!

Also, in the Hazel’s strip that appears in the space supposedly for Dennis’ comic, the reference to a certain phallic appendage remains…

The New Gmail Themes Thing
Google has been gradually rolling them out to everyone; I finally got mine today, a day after some of my plurk buddies got theirs. Finally, something to make Gmail less of an eyesore! (I didn’t really want to bother with using the Better Gmail plugins. But that’s just me).
You’ll know you’ve got it once you get to Gmail’s sign-in page. On the settings page, you’ll see the “Themes” link has been added. For now there’s only a handful of themes, but this is likely to be added to. Google designed most of the themes, with a few being designed by outside artists.
According to Google, some themes will change based on the user’s local time, and some themes are also customizable depending on the user’s location. Right now, though, what I’m interested to know is if third parties can create themes for Gmail? Tapping into creative communities such as deviantART’s plethora of artists is bound to create a huge pile of awesome themes for just about everything.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Good Times At The Mall With Nikki Gil
The crowd was building up. People were gathering on the first floor near the stage, just in front of Starbucks and Bench. People were also bunching up along the second floor rails for a good view of the stage. The crowd was getting thicker, and getting through the area became an increasingly slow affair.
The MC for the event steps up.
“All right ladies and gentlemen! Before we start the event we’d just like to thank SM Mall of Asia for making this event possible. Let’s give them a big round of applause! Yeah!”
Silence.
Then, perhaps out of pity, three people start clapping.
“… Thank you.”
After some more awkward (and failed) attempts to get the crowd into it, Nikki Gil comes on. She starts to chat the crowd up.
“Sino dito ang mga magka-date ngayon? Itaas ang kamay!”
Nothing. The crowd stares blankly at Nikki, almost like drooling, retarded deer in the headlights of an oncoming Mack truck of death.
“Ows? Wala bang magka-date ngayon? Sino ang mga mag-boyfriend at girlfriend dito?”
More awkward silence.
“Alam naman natin na ang love songs ay isa sa mga nakapagpapaligaya sa ating mga Pilipino. So tonight, I’m going to serenade you guys with a couple of songs…”
She rambles on the same premise of singing songs to the crowd by rephrasing the same sentence with the word “serenade” in it for about three times. Eventually she gets to the part where she tries and fails to create a connection with the audience.
“… Am I right or am I right?”
Tumbleweeds blow across the stage.
“I’m right! Thank you sir!”
I didn’t hear anyone say that to her, so let’s assume that was someone from her entourage.
Anyway, I was having a bit of a good time, thanks to a big cup o’ Hot Chocolate from Starbucks and Nikki Gil’s excellent comedy act (I hear she also sings; I’ll have to check that out sometime), but I was there for a matter more pressing than Nikki Gil’s Concert: Buying Underwear.
So after watching her stand-up routine, I headed off to the department store purchase replacements for my current pairs that had lefty peeking through. Good Times.

Several Ruts
- Weather’s screwing around with my lungs. I don’t remember exactly what it is that affects asthmatics so much during times like these, but it was explained quite nicely by kuya Kim some months ago in TV Patrol’s weather segment. It’s been 3 weeks since I couldn’t be separated from my asthma meds… the longest in probably a decade.
- Also, it was probably exacerbated by my going into Star City’s Snow World last month. A warning right outside the feature said “This ride is not for: … people with asthma…”. Gee, maybe they could’ve told us that at the entrance before we bought the tickets to that specific feature. How convenient of them to mention it after the fact! I had been to Denmark and Northwestern Spain, with snow and all, so I figured, “how bad could it be?”. Went in. Much colder than those two countries, I’ll tell ya that.
- It’s been really hard for me to get to sleep these past few days. It’s affecting the amount of work I’m able to do. So far, I’ve sacrificed ESD the most, just to be able to compensate. Personal commitments are always the first ones to go.
- I wanted to watch “City of Ember” sooo badly, but due to time constraints, couldn’t, until Tuesday. Looked up the movie skeds… and it was gone in all the theaters in my vicinity. Great. Gonna have to wait a while for my post-apocalyptic movie fix.
- Outside of Plurk, I have no real social life. Ha!
